God woos us with a tender message from the Scripture. His love is so strong, so deep, so passionate, that speaking of His greatest love, His church, the Bible says "He gave His life to take care of it and be its Savior!" (Eph. 5:243). Courtships and marriages need that devotion today-- of being willing to die for your spouse. And Valentine's Day is a good time to think about it and express it to the one you love. I am such a believer that God is working and blessing every married couple our there, just as He blesses everyone abundantly with His unconditional love.
Do you read the Bible? I do. And the book of the Songs of Solomon is the one that swithart and I are fond of reading together. The Song of Solomon is a poem about a pair of committed lovers and their expressions of their love to each other. rust me, you will really love reading it with your spouse! It is a song about love, courtship, and marriage.... These poetic verses describe a couple's desire for one another, the struggles they overcome, the tender feelings that love awakens in them, the joy they find in being together.
If you haven't opened a page yet of the book, just take this for example. A young man speaking to his beloved: O most beautiful woman in all the world... How lovely your cheeks are, with your hair falling down upon them!... Your lips are like a thread of scarlet.... The perfume of your love is more fragrant than all the richest spices" (C.V.1:8;4:10). And the young woman's response: "Seal me in your heart with permanent bethrotal, for love is strong as death.... Many waters cannot quench the flame of love, neither can floods drown it" (C.V.8:6,7).
Such love comes only by experiencing Christ's love for us-- which enriches our love for each other. Courtship and marriage are like a triangle- with Jesus, the husband, and the wife represented by its angles. Like the angle in its triangle, the closer the husband and wife each come to Jesus, the closer they will approach each other. God intended courtship and marriage to have Jesus as the third party. With Christ's presence, every home is a little heaven here on earth.
That's how I see it..
